Private Student Loans



There used to be online services, such as NextStudent, that would consolidate your student loans. These were consolidation services for both students, with the Federal Stafford Loans, as well as for parents — Federal PLUS Loans (loans for parents of undergraduate students).

To be eligible in most cases, you needed to be a student or parent with federal loans that have not been consolidated previously; either out of school and in repayment of your loans, or will be graduating within six months; have more than one lender that holds your loans; and have a total loan amount over $15,000.

These companies are no longer offering consolidation loans.
